I honestly like books better than reality. I can escape inbetween the ink and the page, for as long as I’d like, without realizing that there’s people around, without noticing that life’s happening while I sit there, as still as can be. Books are better, because for the time being, while you’re reading, you can become any one of the characters you wish. You can re-play the story in your head over and over again. You can read a novel multiple times, and never become bored with the firmiliar words. It’s like a safe haven from everything. In certain cases, you know that there’s always going to be a “happy ending”. In certain cases, you can actually be happy. You can visit places you’ve never been before, you can see places that aren’t real. You can feel emotions you might not normally feel. As you get to know the characters, you may very well decide that some are a lot like you. You may very well decide that the author has studied you, your features, your habits, your mannerisms. You could ‘fall in love’, you can hate, you can feel/be/think anything you want, and the plot never changes. The world between the ink and the pages will forever stay the same, no matter how thin the paper becomes from your thumbs turning the pages, everything will remain as it were the first time you opened the book. Maybe memories from where/when you were, when you first read the book will come flooding back. Maybe it’ll help you to sleep on ‘one of those nights’, where everything seems unbearable. Books are far better than reality, in my opinion atleast.
